When I was a young boy, I used to get asthma. It would flare up when I played soccer and I used to wheeze and have difficulty breathing. Back then, the doctor prescribed an inhaler, and I just got along with it. Through my own healing process, I learned how to repair my body and respiratory system. Now I don’t suffer from asthma. When you address the root causes instead of just the symptoms, the body responds in remarkable ways.
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory condition characterized by wheezing, shortness of breath and chest tightness. With asthma, inflammation of the airways constricts the flow of air into the lungs and inhibits normal respiration. Acute asthma attacks can even be life-threatening, which is why addressing the underlying causes is so important.
Asthma can be triggered by external factors like exposure to airborne toxins, cold air and allergens but root cause lies deeper.
Gut health has a huge influence on asthmatic conditions. When the gut microbiome is imbalanced the walls of the intestine become inflamed and permeable (leaky gut). That’s when allergens enter the bloodstream and create inflammation which can manifest as inflammation of the airways and asthma symptoms.
“Frankenfoods,” gluten and sugar increase inflammation in the body. These foods change the body’s biochemistry, steal nutrients from the body and suppress organ function leading to physical degeneration. Most people are greatly benefited when they make no other change except to eliminate these things from their diet and consume organic, single ingredient foods like meats, vegetables and fruits.
Treating asthma with nutritional therapy and acupuncture has profound benefits for long term health. Rather than suppressing symptoms, these techniques can help address the root causes of the problem, thereby completely alleviating or severely reducing the symptoms.
Acupuncture improves lung function. The National Institute of Health of China has confirmed the validity of acupuncture treatment for asthma and has recommended its use. Several studies have shown that acupuncture has anti-inflammatory effects and helps modulate the immune system in a positive way, reducing inflammation and making breathing easier.
Nutritional Therapy is a commonsense approach that helps reverse physical degeneration by correcting nutritional deficiencies with targeted nutritional supplements. These supplements build the body and help restore function to the lungs and the other supporting tissues. Through comprehensive testing, nutritional deficiencies contributing to asthma can be identified and addressed.
With the proper guidance and support, you can calm the inflammation, strengthen your system, and breathe freely again. That’s exactly what happened for me, and it’s something I’m thankful for every single day.
