Whatever it is, a symptom is a message from the body alerting us to a deeper imbalance. A symptom is a clue that the body needs support.
Imagine driving a car down the road and the check engine light goes on. Instead of taking our car to the mechanic, we pull over and remove the fuse so that the light no longer alerts us. Chances are, if we continue driving without attending to the warning message, something in the engine will break or go wrong, leading to greater damage.
It’s the same with the human body. While minor symptoms tend to be a nuisance, they are actually important messages from the body. If we ignore them, there is a good chance things will get worse over time.
Pain is a great example. Masking pain with medications or numbing agents suppresses the body’s own natural alarm system, which can lead to continued physical damage and dependency on medications.
In my case, I developed chronic knee pain in my left knee. I like to play pickleball, and my knee injury was inhibiting my ability to do so. Because I love the game, I took some pain medication and continued to play. But the condition worsened and I needed to get more information on what really caused the pain.
So, I went to the orthopedic surgeon. He examined me and took X-rays. He told me that I had a buildup of calcium pyrophosphate crystals in my knee. This condition is “pseudogout.” It is a type of arthritis where calcium pyrophosphate crystals settle in joint cartilage and trigger inflammation.
This information was a game changer because now I understood why I was having the pain. I researched the condition and found out that calcium was precipitating out of my blood into the joint space because my blood chemistry was imbalanced. When I balanced my blood chemistry and supported my body’s calcium metabolism, the crystals in my knee were reabsorbed and the pain went away. It was amazing!
By understanding the root cause of my pain and addressing it with natural medicine I improved my overall health and got back into the game. If I had gone the conventional route, I would have gotten an MRI and then surgery to clean out the crystals. This would have been expensive and required significant downtime. Understanding the root cause of my pain led to a great improvement in my overall health.
Your body is always speaking; it whispers before it shouts. Every symptom is an invitation to listen and uncover the deeper story your body is trying to tell. When we choose to honor these messages rather than silence them, we get to the root cause and can access true healing.
If your body’s “check engine light” is on, and you’re ready to understand what’s behind it, we’re here to help guide you.
