Podcast Episode Twenty-Five: What You Need to Know About Acupuncture

Here at Vital Health, we’re huge advocates for combining ancient traditions with modern medical practices. One of our favorite tools, acupuncture, strikes that perfect balance. And not only does it treat discomfort and pain, but it also treats the underlying causes of these symptoms in a way that works with your body’s natural processes, not against them.

In this episode, we’re diving into the basics of acupuncture: how it works, what it can treat, and how you can get started. We’re talking about the history of acupuncture and Chinese medicine and how it found its way to the United States. Plus, we’re talking about what an acupuncture session feels like and, of course, whether or not it hurts.

What’s in this episode:

  • The history of acupuncture in Asia and how it came to the United States
  • What happens inside the body during an acupuncture session
  • How Chinese medicine explains the energetics of acupuncture
  • How acupuncture both manages symptoms and heals the underlying causes
  • How our western understanding of acupuncture has changed over the years
  • Different medical issues and conditions that acupuncture can help with
  • What acupuncture feels like, both during your session and afterwards
  • How to become an acupuncturist
