Podcast Episode Ninety-Seven: How to Eat Healthy on Vacation

If you’re dedicated to a healthy diet, it can be easier to stick to it when you’re at home. But what happens if you aren’t at home? Maybe you’re on a road trip, or on vacation, or attending a special event with a set menu and you’re having trouble staying on track with your eating. It might seem inevitable that you’ll eat unhealthy foods, but it doesn’t have to be.

There are many ways to eat healthy (or healthier) when you’re traveling as long as you are prepared. Restaurants will often make food substitutions if you ask, you can bring your own food to an event, or go ahead and savor some of those less healthy dishes in moderation. In this episode, we’ll share our tips on how to make healthy eating choices when you’re away from home and how to get back on track once you return.

What’s in this episode:

  • Taking care of your digestive system before you leave is very important
  • The consequence of eating whatever you want on vacation is how difficult it will be to get back on track when you return home, especially when it comes to sugary foods
  • Preparation is key to making healthy eating choices while traveling or attending special events
  • Our quad method of food apportionment and how it can help you eat healthy
